Follow up to “When is enough; enough?”
Ok so I now have a follow up to my previous post called “When is enough; enough”
The Illinois legislature has passed personal income-tax increases of 66 percent and corporate income-tax in creases of 45 percent, designed to address a $15 billion state budget deficit. Senate and House lawmakers had voted to raise the personal income tax rate from 3 percent to 5 percent and the corporate tax rate from 4.8 percent to 7 percent. The package was passed without a single Republican vote in either chamber.
The Democrats bristled at being blamed for the state’s financial problems, although they’ve controlled the governor’s office and both legislative chambers since 2003. To me that’s just garbage. Democrats have been controlling this state for over 7 years and they’ve also been over spending for that long as well. Speaking of spending, no one that voted for the tax increase has brought up a good way to cut spending. Shouldn’t they balance the budget by cutting back as well?
What about the corporate tax rate being raised from 4.8 percent to 7 percent. How do you think they are going to make up for that? Yep, you guessed it, by charging it to us.
They did not raise the cigarette tax, which was suppose to fund schools but isn’t that what the Lottery is doing? Maybe it’s about time to see where all that money is going. Lotto has been generating revenue since 1974.
Most people don’t know about the over 530 state pensions that are over 100k a year. 100k? For what?
Someone needs to take charge of this state and get things under control. People are going broke because goods, taxes and government spending keep going up. When is enough; enough?
